The Endovenous Laser procedure is a minimally invasive office-based treatment alternative for surgical stripping of the great saphenous vein (Main Superficial Vein) as well as the small saphenous vein. The procedure requires that a small laser fiber be used to close the lumen of the vein.

Once the laser fiber is correctly positioned utilizing ultrasound-guidance, and the area around the vein is anesthetized, the laser treatment is carefully performed. The procedure (Ablating the Vein) in itself lasts approximately three minutes. The energy emitted via the catheter heats the vein, thus causing it to seal off. Immediately after the treatment, the patient is able to walk and ready to pursue normal daily activities.
